The DOLS (Dirty Old Ladies of Software) is a feature documentary that uncovers the "Hidden Figures" of Silicon Valley—nine trailblazing women who revolutionized American classrooms from within tech giants like Apple, IBM, and Microsoft. While the tech industry initially dismissed education as "women’s work," these former teachers became the essential bridge between emerging code and classroom pedagogy. Their influence reached from the halls of Washington D.C. to the living rooms of millions, as they helped design Sesame Street and launched iconic computer games like Oregon Trail, Reader Rabbit and Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego. Beyond laying the foundation for a $213 billion global gaming industry, the film celebrates a forty-year "sisterhood" of women who continue to challenge ageism with wit and camaraderie, proving that the innovators who shaped the digital past still have much to say about the AI future.
