Please join us for a special Los Angeles screening of Oscar-nominated director Evgeny Afineevsky's FREEDOM ON FIRE: UKRAINE'S FIGHT FOR FREEDOM at the Museum of Tolerance on December 8th at 6pm.

The event will include a pre-screening reception with drinks & light bites, an exhibition of posters from Ukrainian artists, and the film screening, followed by a panel & Q+A with director Evgeny Afineevsky, key subjects in the film, and the documentary team. More info below.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

The charity exhibition UKRAINIAN WARTIME POSTERS is a collection of posters made by 10 Ukrainian artists, graphic artists, collage and lettering authors who continue to work and create art during the war, interpret the truth about the war crimes committed by Russia on the territory of Ukraine after the start of a full scale invasion.

“Through their creative work, the artists show the reflections of the collective grief, despair, unbearable pain, sorrow and, at the same time, the willingness to fight and win. It is a cry for help, a declaration of our indomitable spirit and bravery, with elements of bitter irony and truth about specific events and war crimes.”

As the COVID crisis intensifies in India, claiming 3,000 to 4,000 lives a day, this Zoom webinar featured New York Times South Asia Bureau Chief in New Delhi, Jeffrey Gettleman , in conversation with Sree Sreenivasan , Co-Founder of Digimentors and Marshall Loeb Innovation Professor of Journalism at Stony Brook University, and Amita N. Vyas , PhD, MHS, Professor of Public Health and Co-Founder of the Global India Fund , to discuss the role of journalists during times of crisis.

Together, they examined the emotional toll on those covering conflict, famine and pandemics, and the concept of “Restorative Narratives,” stories that seek to engage readers in responding with empathy and compassion. They were joined by Amit Bhandari of Magic Bus and Nishant Pandey of American India Foundation who gave viewers information about what they can do to be part of the solution.

Yes, there is isolation.
Yes, there is panic buying.
Yes, there is sickness.
Yes, there is even death.
But,
They say that in Wuhan, after so
many years of noise
You can hear the birds again.
They say that after just a few weeks of quiet
The sky is no longer thick with
fumes.
But blue and gray and clear.
They say that in the streets of Assisi
People are singing to each other
across the empty squares,
keeping their windows open
so that those who are alone
may hear the sounds of family
around them.
They say that a hotel in the West of
Ireland
is offering free meals and delivery
to the housebound.
Today a young woman I know
is busy spreading fliers with her
number
throughout the neighborhood
So that the elders may have
someone to call on.
Today people are preparing to welcome
and shelter the homeless, the sick,
the weary.
All over the world, people are
slowing down and reflecting.
All over the world people are looking
at their neighbors in a new way.
All over the world, people are waking
up to a new reality
To how big we really are.
To how little control we really have.
To what really matters.
To Love.
So, we pray, and we remember that
Yes, there is fear.
But there does not have to be hate.
Yes, there is isolation.
But there does not have to be
loneliness.
Yes, there is panic buying.
But there dos not have to be
meanness.
Yes, there is sickness.
But there does not have to be
disease of the soul.
Yes, there is even death.
But there can always be a rebirth of
love.
Wake to the choices you make as to
how to live now.
Today, breathe.
Listen behind the factory noises of
your panic.
The birds are singing again.
The sky is clearing.
Spring is coming.
And we are always encompassed by
Love.
Open the windows of your soul
And though you may not be able
to touch across the empty square,

Hello/Bonjour from Canada to everyone.

We are all in this together and we all have the ability to breathe, stay calm, and care for one another.

Nature will show us a scientific and homeopathic way forward through our current needs. Stay to a simple plan, a simple way of living. I have found the pure health benefits of lemon, garlic, ginger, turmeric and small cayenne in a hot drink very beneficial. I am also using a combo of tea tree to disinfect.

May we travel together in these challenging yet blessed times, and may we remember all those on the planet, our Mother, who have even less than us.
